Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a common animal meant for burden bearing (Gen. 49: 11) to bear the burden of men's sin. The people who expected a Political Deliverer from Roman oppression gave Him a Royal Reception. The cry of the people - "Hosanna" - means 'save us now' He did indeed save but not in the way they thought He would. He eventually died on the Cross and ascended to the Right Hand of God. He will ultimately reign over all kings and nations. The triumphal entry was followed by Jesus' second cleansing of the Temple (John 2: 13-16).
