Thursday April 27 Bible Reading:      Acts 3: 11 - 26 Topic:          The Purpose Of Miracles The miracle of the healing of the cripple at the Beautiful Gate shows that miracles are supposed to create an opportunity to preach the Gospel. The excitement over the healing brought a crowd of people and Peter and John used the opportunity to preach to them. Peter first explained that the miracle glorified and exalted Jesus (v. 13) and proved Him to be the Messiah. He then indicted his Jewish listeners for scorning Jesus, denying Him in the presence of Pilate, exchanging Him for a murderer and handing Him over to be crucified. Peter nevertheless had awesome good news for them: "Repent therefore and be converted that your sin may be blotted out ..." (v. 19) Through this miracle and the message that followed, about five thousand people were converted. ...
