Daily Fountain 2017 - 221117 - Fill In the Gap

Wednesday November 22 Bible Reading:     Phil. 1: 19 - 26 Topic:                  Fill In The Gap In the objective test, Teachers ask Students to fill in the gap with the correct answer from the options given. There can only be one correct answer to each question because the answer is not based on the Student's opinion but on facts that can be verified. In. verse 21 Paul says "For me to live is Christ .." Before his personal encounter with Jesus on the Damascus Road, if he had been asked to fill in the gap "for me to live is ....? his answer would have been "the law" because enforcing the law in Judaism was the greatest priority of his life then. However after the encounter with the Risen Lord, old things passed away and all things became new. Paul's whole purpose from that point on was to live for Christ and become more like Him. If ...

Bible Reading For Today - Sat181117 - Ephesians 5: 21-33

21. Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.   22. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.   23. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.   24. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.   25. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;   26. That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,   27. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.   28. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.   29. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:   ...

Daily Fountain 2017 - Sat181117 - The Ideal Christian Marriage

Saturday November 18 Bible Reading:     Eph. 5: 21 - 33 Topic:                  The Ideal Christian Marriage In these verses, Paul gives us the blueprint for Christian marriage. Its foundation is mutual submission (v. 21). Within that framework, there are roles for the husband and wife. This passage shows with absolute clarity that the responsibility for a good Christian marriage rests with the husband. Just as the Church submits to Christ as its head, the wife should submit to her husband as there can never be two captains in one boat (vs. 22-24). Such submission is so powerful that it can win an unbelieving husband to Christ (1 Peter 3: 1-2), so wives must take this responsibility very seriously. The husband, however, has the responsibility to love his wife as Christ loves the Church. He must recognize that Christ’s love for the Chur...

Daily Fountain 2017 - The Truth You Know

Wednesday April 5 Bible Reading:      1 John 2: 24 - 29 Topic:          The Truth You Know If we start our reading from v. 18 which warns us about "the antichrist", we will better understand verses 24 - 29. Who is the antichrist? The antichrist may not become manifest yet, but the Scripture gives us clues about the present day antichrists. Matthew 24: 24 calls them false "christs" and false prophets who show (not perform) great signs and wonders, if only to deceive the gullible Christians. Paul in 2 Thess. 2: 2-12 describes them as men of lawlessness, who try to deceive believers by all means. They may even be those who have 'believed' the Gospel (v. 19) but are now showing their true colour by denying the faith. It is interesting that our text today addresses situations that exist today, whereby people adulterate the Gospel and perpetuate ...
