Daily Fountain 2017 - 201117 - A Good Work Begun

Monday November 20 Bible Reading:     Phil. 1: 1 - 11 Topic:                  A Good Work Begun Verse 6 reads, “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ”. The day we invite Jesus into our lives, 'a good work has begun'. The good work is salvation through which the Father delivers us from the power of darkness and deposits us in the Kingdom of His dear Son Jesus Christ (Col. 1: 13). It is important to ensure that this good work of salvation has begun in us. It is a timely question when we consider the many negative stories that are reported in the media about some pastors and church members. These stories reveal that many are not Christians but Church goers. If you have never given your life to Christ, today is the day of salvation. Don't postpone it, for tomorrow may be too late. Notice...

Early Morning Prayer - Friday 17. 11. 17

Dear Lord and Father of mankind, in Whom we live and move and have our being, Who desireth not that a sinner should die but rather that he may repent of his sins and live, forgive our foolish ways. In every way we have gone contrary to Your Holy Laws, Father we ask for forgiveness; remember us not in Your wrath but in Your kind and tender mercies that we may live out the rest of our lives in peace, trusting only in You. Today Lord, we express our gratitude because You have deigned to bring us back from the "dead" into the Light of Your Only Begotten Son, thank You Lord and we ask Oh Lord that as we go out today in pursuit of what we need to keep on living to Your Glory, that Your grace and mercy shall follow us all through today and we neither fall into any kind of danger nor be tempted beyond what we can bear or handle. Bless us as keep professing that Christ is Lord and help us to live more nearly as we pray even through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savi...

Daily Fountain 2017 - 2210 - Repentance

Sunday October 22 Bible Reading:     Matt. 21: 28 - 32 Topic:                  Repentance Change is one thing that is constant in life, but people find it difficult to embrace it. Repentance literally means "change" To repent is to change from sin to believe in and obedience to Christ. Although sorrow is a process of repentance, repentance involves considerably more than that. There must be a renewal of one's heart and spirit which are obvious images connoting not only forgiveness (Psa. 51: 1-2; 7: 9) but also a change that compels a person to live in complete obedience to God's commands (1 Sam. 10: 6, 9; Jer. 32: 39; Ezek. 36: 26) In the parable, the son who said he would obey but later didn't represents many Church leaders/Pastors/Members who promise obedience to God with many vows made at ordination/confirmation/admission, bu...

Daily Fountain 2017 - A Call To Repentance

Thursday June 1 Bible Reading:      Joel 2: 12 - 17 Topic:          A Call To Repentance Joel had lamented in Chapter 1 the devastating effect of the locust on the Nation's crops and vegetations (1: 4). He likened the appearance of locusts to an invading army (1: 6) He made the clarion call to sensitize the people to the need for personal repentance (2: 12-14) and called upon them to rend their hearts and not their garments and seek God's Face. He also called for national repentance (2: 15-17) through prayer and fasting of all elders, children, suckling babies, nursing mothers, newly weds and priests to show its seriousness. We are like in Joel's day experiencing such horrendous situations in Nigeria. Fuel price has been hiked to N145 per litre and this has adversely affected the cost of living and transportation. So have the prices of goods and commodities gone up. Greed...

Daily Fountain 2017 - Hailing Or Nailing Jesus

Wednesday April 26 Bible Reading:      Acts 2: 22 - 39 Topic:          Hailing Or Nailing Jesus The promise of Jesus in Acts 1: 8 is fulfilled in today's text. After the Pentecost, Peter's first message to a crowd brought in three thousand souls that repented. How did this happen? Peter was straight and forthright in his message. The crux of Peter's message was that Jesus Whom the Jews despised and crucified was indeed the Messiah God had sent to them. Peter went on to show how God endorsed Jesus as the Messiah through the miracles He performed and His death and resurrection yet the Jews for whom He came conspired to kill Him. Touched by the message and its indictment a good number of Peter's listeners sought forgiveness through repentance and baptism. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3: 23) You were not there when the Jews crucified Jesu...

Daily Fountain 2017 - Behold What Manner Of Love

Thursday April 6 Bible Reading:      1 John 3: 1 - 9 Topic:          Behold What Manner Of Love An experience of the new birth (salvation) is the greatest miracle in any one's life. In our Text, John is astonished at the manner of love by which God has loved us (John 3: 16) which results in men and women being called Children of God. This wonderful experience he says give hope and calls for diligence and dutifulness. The hope is that the experience of son-ship is not only in time but for eternity. There will be resurrection experience in which believers will be clothed with new bodies and new identities. (2 Phil. 3: 21) In view of this hope, therefore a Christian should be diligent to live a lifestyle that keeps him separated from the world. To do this, he must dutifully walk in the light of the Word of God and keep himself in the Love of God by keeping God's Commandm...

Daily Fountain 2017 - That You Do Not Sin

Monday April 3 Bible Reading:      1 John 2: 1 - 14 Topic:          That You Do Not Sin In today's text, the emphasis is not on "not committing" sin. Christians in time of weakness my commit sin against God. What John is warning about is the possibility of allowing an act of sin to become a habit of life or one refusing to repent of an act of sin by not confessing such to God. Sin is forgiven on condition of humble confession and determination to turn away from it. This is because Jesus your Advocate, is ever ready to plead with God on your behalf. However when sin becomes a habitual pattern of life, then fellowship with God is bound to be broken. For a Christian to continue in fellowship with God, John gives the following tips: (a)      keep God's commandments (vs. 3 - 5) This entails constant studying of the ...
