Tuesday July 18 Bible Reading:      Rev. 2: 8 - 11 Topic:                   He Who Overcomes Shall Be Saved At the time of this letter, the believers in the Church at Smyrna were undergoing tribulation and poverty. The Lord wrote to encourage them to stand strong and hold on to their faith because they were about   to experience serious persecution which would result in the death of many of them. There were Jews there who were supposed to uphold worship of the true God but the Lord said that they were worshipping satan. The 20th and 21st Centuries have witnessed more persecution of Christians than the previous 19 Centuries of the Church.
