Daily Fountain 2017 - 021117 - Life Through Obedience

Thursday November 2 (All Souls Day) Bible Reading:     John 5: 24 - 29 Topic:                  Life Through Obedience In vs. 25 - 29, Jesus specifically indentifies Himself as the long awaited Messiah Who is both the "Life-Giver" and the "Life-Bringer". Daily Fountain 2017 - Labour For The Food That Endures Forever

In today's reading, we see two groups of people who were excluded from certain priviledges because they could not prove their family identities. The 652 persons in vs. 59 - 60 could not show they were Israelites, while the "priests" in vs. 61 - 62 could not show they were of priestly descent. As a result, these priests were excluded from significant priviledges (v. 63) In our communities today, many people suffer identity crisis because they have been abandoned by or forcibly removed from their biological parents due to ravages of war, kidnapping, prostitution and other social vices. Some people cannot trace their family lineage beyond one or two generations. An even more serious loss is that of spiritual identity. Some claim...
