Daily Fountain 2017 - Sat181117 - The Ideal Christian Marriage

Saturday November 18 Bible Reading:     Eph. 5: 21 - 33 Topic:                  The Ideal Christian Marriage In these verses, Paul gives us the blueprint for Christian marriage. Its foundation is mutual submission (v. 21). Within that framework, there are roles for the husband and wife. This passage shows with absolute clarity that the responsibility for a good Christian marriage rests with the husband. Just as the Church submits to Christ as its head, the wife should submit to her husband as there can never be two captains in one boat (vs. 22-24). Such submission is so powerful that it can win an unbelieving husband to Christ (1 Peter 3: 1-2), so wives must take this responsibility very seriously. The husband, however, has the responsibility to love his wife as Christ loves the Church. He must recognize that Christ’s love for the Chur...

Daily Fountain 2017 - Commit Your Ways To The Lord

Monday July 3 Bible Reading:      Gen. 24: 1 - 14 Topic:                   Commit Your Ways To The Lord Abraham's servant had just been saddled with a very difficult. sensitive but definite task which called for a definite result. Humanly speaking, it was virtually an impossible mission, failure of which would likely truncate the flow of the family's covenant relationship with God. He left under oath, fully prepared for the mission, but knowing that he was not really qualified in himself to deliver accordingly. Thankfully, growing up in Abraham's household, Abraham's faith in God had positively impacted his own life. At that well in the city of Nahor, he prayed a simple prayer of faith and waited (vs. 12 - 14) Today Christians do not necessarily need to pray in the manner that Abraham's servant did, when faced with difficult situations and ...

Daily Fountain 2017 - 1 + 1 = 1

Monday May 8 Bible Reading:      Gen. 2: 18 - 25 Topic:          1 + 1 = 1 In Gen. 1: 26, God said, "Let us make man." This shows that there is a Fellowship within the Godhead. As a result, God desired the same blessing for Adam and noted that it was not good for him to be alone. He created man in His Own Image; therefore man would not be fulfilled without someone to complete him. God created Eve to complete Adam and provide him with companionship, fellowship and intimacy. In marriage, a wife complements the husband for the fulfillment of God's purposes, and as v. 24 shows, God's original intention for man was not just monogamy, but a life-long union. Polygamy and divorce were never part of God's original design in marriage. The man and his wife were naked and were not ashamed ... a reference to transparency and innocence. In many marriages today, husbands and wives...

Daily Fountain 2017 - The Place Of Love And Submission In Marriage

Monday March 27 Bible Reading:      Eph. 5: 21 - 33 Topic:          The Place Of Love And Submission In Marriage Today's passage considered the Christian blueprint for marriage because in it, Paul gave instructions on how marriage should built in Christ. He compared marriage to a relationship between Christ and the Church. The man should model his love for his wife on the sacrificial love of Christ for His Church for which He gave His Life. The woman should submit to her husband even as the Church submits to Christ as her Lord. It is the wife that needs love because of her tender heart. Apostle Peter explains why the wife should submit to her husband (1 Pet. 3: 1 - 6) Through submission, unbelieving husbands could be won to Christ when they observe their chaste conducts. For any marriage to thrive and succeed as God intended, eac...
