Daily Fountain 2017 - 0910 - Self Righteousness

Monday October 9 Bible Reading:     Rom. 10: 1 - 13 Topic:                  Self Righteousness Mohan Matthew said, "The best candidates for hell are those who think they have never sinned" The Jews were actually zealous, but their zeal was not based on knowledge, since they do not know the Righteousness of God. They want to establish their own righteousness based on the law, this self righteousness which will never please God "and all our righteousness are like filthy rags" (Isa. 6: 4 - 6) (Rom. 10: 4) If any man will continue to pursue the righteousness that comes from the law, that person will continue to miss the main substance which is salvation that comes by faith in Jesus Christ. The rich man that met Jesus in Luke chapter 18 reported that he had carefully observed all the laws from his youth, yet Jesus told him that one thing was lack...

Daily Fountain 2017 - 0710 - Servants And Slaves

Saturday October 7 Bible Reading:     1 Pet. 2: 15 - 25 Topic:                  Servants And Slaves A servant is a person who serves another out of choice or one who is a hired worker or someone who chooses to be at the disposal of another out of deference. (1 Sam. 24: 41) On the other hand, a slave is a person bound in servitude to another human being as an instrument of labour or one who has lost his liberty and has no rights. The watchword for every servant whether voluntary or forced is submission at all times to his Master. Most times servants are not treated with any regards at all. That was the reason behind Peter's instruction, not only to those who are good and considerate but also to those who are harsh (v. 18) Nobody on earth is actually free. We are all servants or slaves to either sin or righteousness (Rom. 6: 16 - 18). Whose sl...

Daily Fountain 2017 - Make Your Life Acceptable To God

Sunday July 16 (Trinity V) Bible Reading:      Romans 12: 1 - 8 Topic:                   Make Your Life Acceptable To God The dictionary defines sacrifice as the act of giving up something highly valued for the sale of one considered of a greater value or claim. In this state, everything else is considered as inconsequential when compared to the value placed on one's relationship with his Maker. God is pleased when we who profess love for Him reset our priorities to accord Him the position He deserves in our lives. Verse 2 calls for a change of mindset as we feed on the World of life and allow the light therefrom to direct our lives accordingly. This will protect us from being overrun by the world and make our lives pleasing to God. Speaking from his personal experience of God's grace, Paul urges every believer...

Daily Fountain 2017 - Incorruptible Beauty - II

Wednesday March 29 Bible Reading:      1 Peter 3: 8 - 12 Topic:          Incorruptible Beauty (II) Yesterday, the Lord revealed to us that the beauty which comes from the "hidden person of the heart" is incorruptible, radiates in a person's life and attracts people to the Lord Jesus Christ. This beauty primarily comes from the heart. Jesus said "a good man brings good things out of the good stored   up in his heart and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh" Lk. 6: 45 This means that our words and actions are largely determined by our thought pattern. Either we curse or bless, it comes from the heart. For your hidden man of the heart to be beautiful, you must experience a transformation or renewal of your mind (Rom. 12: 2) These practical steps must be taken. We achieve this by ...

The Place Of Destiny

By:     Chukwuneta Obiageli What brings about stress in life is our insistence on having life dance to our tunes…even when things are destined to play out differently for us.  So, instead of being ‘accepting’ and finding harmony in life, we live a life of perpetual(emotional) struggles…because we are always swimming against the tide of our destiny.     Think along this line as you ‘x-ray’ the caliber of people that seem to come your way (mostly) in relationships.   Michelle was said to be doing much better than Obama (career wise) at a time but it would take a (then) struggling (not idle!) Obama coming into her life for her to find herself in a place of prominence in life. Her ‘career and education’ alone could not have earned her such a place in history…had she not accepted Obama (into her life) at the time she did.   Sometimes, it is not about today but tomorrow. The ‘struggling’ guy you are ‘managing’ in ...
