Sunday October 8
(17th Sunday after Trinity)
Bible Reading: Matt.25: 14 - 30
Topic: Faithfulness In Service
In today's reading, we
observed the attitude of the three servants who received talents from their
Master as he set out to travel.
To one he gave five
talents, to the second he gave two talents and the third he gave one talent,
each according to his ability.
On his return from his
journey, he summoned his servants for stock taking. The man that received the
five talents gained another five talents, the one with two talents gained
another two talents and both of them were given the same commendation despite
the number of talents gained because there were not given equal talents in the
first place. They were given the same commendation because they were both
fruitful and faithful.
It is said "The world
rewards success but God rewards faithfulness" It is required of a steward
that a man should be found faithful (1
Cor. 4: 2)
Are you faithful in your
services to God and humanity? Remember the reward of your service comes from
God. Government or the Organization you serve may pay your salary at the end of
the month but time and eternal reward come from God at the end of all your
life's work.
God is looking for
faithful servants.
Prayer
Lord, help me to know You
better, so as to serve You faithfully in Jesus' Name, Amen.
Memory Verse Matt. 25: 21
"His lord said unto
him. Well done thou good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a
few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of
thy lord."
