Daily Fountain 2017 - The Greatest Commandment

Sunday October 1
(16th Sunday After Trinity)

Bible Reading:     Matt. 22: 34 - 40
Topic:                  The Greatest Commandment

Jesus Christ by God's Wisdom, silenced the question of the resurrection and the Pharisees saw and wanted to exploit the opportunity to show supremacy over the Sadduccees.

The Pharisees put head together and selected one of their best to tempt Jesus with a question.

It was a question which had been a subject for serious debate for centuries. The Pharisees had over  613 commandments in the law - 248 positive and 365 negative. It was really difficult to memorize all the commandments much less keep them.

Their century old problem was summarised in two quotations from the Old Testament (Deut. 6: 5 & Liviticus 19: 18) love for God and love for man.

This is the type of love that God requires all men to exercise.

Christians who are God's children are to manifest this love in all their relationships with their neighbours (1 John 4: 20)

This is where a good number have failed

We are waiting for the day we will see God to show Him how much we love Him; but we forget that God measures our love for Him in the way we relate in love to our neighbours (Matt. 25: 42)

How you love God is shown in how you love your neighbour

Prayer
Oh God, help me to love You wholeheartedly and my neighbour as myself, Amen.

Memory Verse             Matt. 22: 40
"On these two commandments hang all the law and the Prophets"

Daily Fountain 2017 - It Is To Your Advantage

Sunday May 21 5th Sunday After Easter Bible Reading:      John 16: 5 - 22 Topic:          It Is To Your Advantage In life we must be ready to endure some level of discomfort in the present, in order to enjoy comfort in the future. The disciples had become comfortable with the presence and involvement of Jesus in their lives, but Jesus announced to them that it was necessary for Him to return to His Father in order that the Holy Ghost might come. If Jesus stayed, He would be only in one place at a time; but His Spirit would be everywhere at the same time. The disciples had to recognize therefore that growth and maturity come with sacrifice which involves willingness to step out of our comfort zone. God knows the best for you. Be sensitive to the leading of His Spirit. Desire progress but don't reject the change that brings it. Yes, you may be in an uncomfortable sit...

Daily Fountain 2017 - 2310 - Building Out Of Ruins

Monday October 23 Bible Reading:     Acts. 15: 12 - 22 Topic:                  Building Out Of Ruins When you pass by a collapsed building, what comes to your mind? When you see a place devastated by war, what strikes you? Ruin, lots of ruins! dashed irrecoverable hope, you lament on what it used to be, when it was standing previously. God can change ruins and rebuild from new edifices. This is how God deals with our lives when it appears we have been ruined. We should not remain in the ruins around us, but on to God and allow Him to come and rebuild them for us and others. Prayer Lord, let me know how to make a building out of ruins. May I not be steeped in failed traditions to the detriment of revival in Jesus Name, Amen. Memory Verse             Acts. 15:...
