Bible Reading: Rom. 11: 11 - 14
Topic: Stand Fast In His Goodness
The first stanza of Hymns
Ancient and Modern 301 reads "He that is down needs fear no fall. He that
is low no pride. He that is humble ever shall. Have God to be his Guide."
That we stumble in the
faith or fail in life does not mean the end of our life. Rather it is a
lifetime opportunity for us to humble ourselves before God and realize His
Goodness. Having realized our shortcomings, or failed having reconciled
ourselves to God through Jesus Christ, we are expected to appreciate Him for
every good thing He has done.
How do we do that?
By remaining in God's
Goodness
We can only stand fast in
God's Goodness when we
(i) choose to remain as branches that bear good fruits (i.e. being
born again and Spirit filled) (Gal. 5: 22)
(ii) refuse to gloat over the brethren that have
fallen out of faith (v. 18)
(iii) Stand unshakably by faith without any trace
of unbelief (v. 20), remain sanctified, (holy) without sexual pollution (1
Thess. 4: 3 - 4) and determine to obey God's commands completely (John 15: 10)
Do you attend Church? or
answer only the name Christian? without giving heed to the above (i - iii), you
need to refrain from such
Repent and return to the
Lord and then experience God's Goodness
Prayer
Father grant me Your Grace
to always experience Your Goodness in my from henceforth and forever more,
Amen.
Memory Verse Rom. 11: 11
"I say then: Have
they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall,
salvation is come unto the Gentiles for to provoke them to jealous"
