Bible Reading: Col. 1: 24 - 29
Topic: Mystery Made Plain
Mystery is a truth not
previously revealed.
In Scripture, it is
something hidden from man which God has graciously revealed through His
Apostles and Prophets.
V. 26 talks of the mystery
that has now been made known to the saints. One such mystery is the Church
which was not known in the Old Testament period.
The Church started on the
day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles to empower
them to be Jesus' witnesses on earth.
The mystery referred to in
v. 27 is the truth that Christ in the heart of someone is the Hope of Glory.
Vs. 28 - 29 deal with the
need to follow up new converts and to ensure they grow up to maturity.
Some people do not know
that Christ is willing to live in their hearts. Jesus will live in the heart of
anyone who invites Him (Rev. 3: 20) Race, colour and status in life are not
barriers to Christ.
Born again people become
fellow heirs of the Body of Christ and partakers of His promises through the
gospel (Eph. 3: 6)
The indwelling Christ is
the believer's hope of glory (heaven)
Allow Christ to dwell in
your heart today
Prayer
Lord Jesus, please come
into my life, come and dwell in my heart forever I pray, Amen.
Memory Verse Col. 1: 27
"To whom God would
make known what is the riches of the glory of the mystery, among the gentiles:
which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."
