Bible Reading: Titus 1: 1 - 16
Topic: Guard The Flock
Timothy and Titus served
as Paul's trusted companions, delivering Paul's letters to congregations and
helping them solve their problems.
Timothy carried the
messages to Churches in Corinth and other places where Paul had ministered and
planted Churches and stayed there to help work out solutions.
Titus was also pastoring
the Church at Crete when Paul wrote and instructed him to set in order things
that were lacking (vs. 5)
He was to select Elders in
each Town (vs. 5 - 9) and to oppose false Teachers (vs. 10 - 15)
The Elders were to assist
him in this Ministry
The false Teachers claimed
to know God (vs. 16), however their actions gave the lie to their words. No
matter how good it may look, a bad tree would never produce good fruit.
Therefore we are instructed to rebuke the false Teachers among us so that they
may be helped to become sound in faith (vs. 13)
Be strong and courageous
and oppose the false Teachers and save the Church from the hands of these
wolves in sheep' clothing.
Paul admonished Timothy
"take heed to yourself and to your doctrine, continue in them, for in
doing this, you will save both yourself and those who hear you." (1 Tim.
4: 16)
Prayer:
May Thy Pastors watch and
pray and never faint
By day and night their
guard to keep
To warn the sinners and
cheer the Saints
To feed Thy lambs and tend
Thy Sheep
Amen
Memory verse: Titus 1: 16
"They profess that
they know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable and disobedient,
and unto every good work reprobate"
