Bible Reading: Col. 3: 1 - 4
Topic: A Different Life
A popular adage says
"dead men don't bite"
This means that dead men
cannot think, feel or act.
Have you ever seen a dead
alcoholic move his tongue at the smell of beer or palm wine during his burial?
Of course not!!
In our passage, Paul uses
this to teach that those who have been raised to a new life with Christ are
expected not to respond to sin. Such people should focus on heavenly things.
Two reasons were given by
Paul in vs. 3 - 4
1. Focus on heavenly things shows that we are dead to the world
and alive unto God
2. It also keeps us prepared to meet with our Lord Jesus Christ
when He appears again in glory.
It is however pertinent to
note that this passage started with the word "If". This means that
this message is for those who have repented from their sins and have determined
to live a new life in Christ Jesus.
Have you settled this
issue?
If you have set your mind on heavenly things, if you have not, repent and invite Jesus into your life as Saviour and Lord. He will transform your life and give you the power to hold onto heavenly things.

Prayer
Lord, help me to set my
mind on heavenly things, Amen.
Memory Verse Col. 3: 1
"If ye be risen with
Christ, seek those things which are above where Christ sitteth at the Right
Hand of God."
