Bible Reading: Gen. 24: 1 - 14
Topic: Commit Your Ways To The Lord
Abraham's servant had just
been saddled with a very difficult. sensitive but definite task which called
for a definite result.
Humanly speaking, it was virtually
an impossible mission, failure of which would likely truncate the flow of the
family's covenant relationship with God.
He left under oath, fully
prepared for the mission, but knowing that he was not really qualified in
himself to deliver accordingly. Thankfully, growing up in Abraham's household,
Abraham's faith in God had positively impacted his own life.
At that well in the city
of Nahor, he prayed a simple prayer of faith and waited (vs. 12 - 14)
Today Christians do not
necessarily need to pray in the manner that Abraham's servant did, when faced
with difficult situations and decisions. We should rather learn to take
seriously the admonition in Prov. 3: 5 - 6; Psa. 37: 5
Absolute trust in God's
ability and faithfulness to help us navigate the many difficult terrains of
life will help us avert unnecessary heartaches which failure in our life's
missions will bring on us.
Prayer
Help me dear Lord, to always
acknowledge You in all my ways, so I may not ever lose my bearing in life,
Amen.
Memory Verse Gen. 24: 4
"But thou shalt go
unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac."
