Sunday July 9
(Trinity IV)
Bible Reading: Eph. 5: 1 - 10
Topic: Following The Example Of
Christ
Paul gave three clear
injunctions in today's message
First - we must be
imitators of Christ. Every child who loves and respects his father would want
to be like him. It is the same with us and God
Secondly - we should walk
in love. Following the example that Christ set for us. He not only taught us
about love, He lived out God's love in word and deed. He died for us as a
supreme demonstration of God's love, which seeks sinners even when they are in
rebellion (Rom. 5: 8). The proper response to this love is a godly life that
not only rejects sin as a way of life but seeks to live a life of gratitude for
all that we have received.
Thirdly - we must walk as
Children of Light. Light dispels darkness and if we walk in the Light of God,
we will expose all the works of darkness around us, resist them and strive to
produce the fruit of the Spirit in our lives.
This is a great challenge
for us Christians in Nigeria today where greed, corruption and forms of
lawlessness are embedded in the fabric of our society.
However with God's help we
will prevail
Prayer
Heavenly Father grant me
Your grace to continually follow Your example In Jesus Name, Amen.
Memory Verse Eph. 5: 8
"For ye were
sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord; walk as Children of Light."
