Bible Reading: Gen. 27: 18 - 29
Topic: Fulfilling God's Purpose With
Human Wisdom
God promises us blessings
and favour but will never condone our trying to gain them by ungodly means.
What Rebekah did not know
was that God could still have fulfilled His purpose for Jacob without her
assistance.
Knowing that her husband
was vulnerable because of his poor sight, Rebekah used her intimate knowledge
of him to ensure that Jacob got the blessing.
Jacob lied to his father
twice by claiming that he was Esau and that he came back quickly because God
granted him success.
Like Jacob many Christians
today attribute their success procured illegitimately to God's favour and
blessing.
Though Jacob got the
blessing, he suffered the consequences of his lies.
He fled for his life, gave
up his possessions and comfort and had to spend years in exile. Even his mother
Rebekah did not ever see her son again.
Jacob's experience should
be a lesson to all believers.
God has promised us untold
blessings but we must wait for Him to fulfill His promises His own Way and in
His own Time.
It is such blessing from
God that makes rich without adding sorrows and it's worth waiting for.
Wait for Him and you will
have nothing to regret
Prayer
Lord, help me to solely
depend on You, Your blessings and Your Time, Amen.
Memory Verse Gen. 27: 22
"And Jacob went near
unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said: The voice is Jacbo's voice,
but the hands are the hands of Esau."
