Bible Reading: Gen. 24: 15 - 28
Topic: Prepared For The Master's Use
Rebekah appeared almost
immediately after Abraham's servant prayed for God's guidance and help.
Though Rebekah was
beautiful, the servant knew that the task ahead required much more than physical
beauty.
She passed the servant's
test with flying colours, by showing kindness, hospitality and care for a
traveller she didn't know. She saw people in need and inconvenienced herself to
help them.
We need to always remind
ourselves that God desires the very best for every one of His children (Jer.
29: 11; 3 John 2). Unfortunately we often miss out on God's blessings because
we ignore opportunities to obey His command to love and care for the vulnerable
amongst us, which will be one of the yardsticks for judgement when He returns
in glory as Matt. 25: 31 - 46 clearly teaches.
Unlike many Church folks
who fail to involve God in their everyday lives, Abraham's faithful servant had
no doubt that his meeting with Rebekah was ordained by God and he was quick to
return all the glory to Him (v. 27)
God desires that we trust
Him with our very own lives, only then can we truly see His Glory
Prayer
Help me, dear Lord, to
never lose sight of the fact that I was created for the display of the beauty
of Christ with which you have decorated my life, Amen.
Memory Verse Gen. 24: 27
"And he (Abraham's
Servant) said Blessed be the Lord, God of my Master Abraham, Who hath not left
destitute my Master of His mercy and His truth; I being the in the way the Lord
led me to the house of my Master's brethren."
