Friday March 3
Bible Reading: James 1: 16 - 27
Topic: Be A Doer Of The Word Of God
Obedience is key in our
walk with God.
It significantly affects
how God relates with us as individuals, groups or even generation.
James reiterates this
point inverses 22 - 25.
The warning is that we
should not expect blessing from God when we live in disobedience to His Word.
When we disobey God, we
make a mockery of His Kingdom and turn Him into an object of no consequence.
Adam and Eve disobeyed God
and forfeited their covering of glory
(Gen. 2: 11); the Israelites committed harlotry with the daughters of Moab and
24, 000 people lost their lives due to God's Righteous Anger (Num. 25: 1-9);
Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit but did not live to tell the story
of their calamity (Acts 5: 1-10) e.t.c.
Anyone who dishonours the
Lord by disobeying Him shall not go unpunished but those who worship Him in
obedience shall enjoy His Fatherly Presence and Benevolence (1 Sam. 2: 30)
As you seek to hear what
the Lord has to tell you this day, pray also for grace to obey Him completely
without any reservation.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, give me the
courage I require to stand for the truth and act according to Your Will so that
my life will show Your Beauty in all I do, in Jesus Name, Amen.
Memory verse: James 1: 17
"Every good gift and
every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of Lights
with Whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning"
