Bible Reading: James 2: 14 - 26
Topic: Faith Without Works Is Dead
The passage before us
today speaks about the place of good works in the Christian faith. It is
hypocrisy to say that we have faith and yet fail to live in a way that
demonstrates it.
Genuine faith will not
only sympathize with those in need but reach out to help them in practical
demonstration of God's love.
Failure to do this means
that we are not paying attention to the works that demonstrate their faith (vs.
15 - 17)
Beloved, everyday is an
opportunity to show God's love to the world.
As an Ambassador for
Christ, making Him known to the world around you, which begins from your home
is not all about preaching sermons or quoting many Bible verses to your hungry
and destitute family members, colleagues, neighbours, friends e.t.c.
It also involves your practical demonstration of God's love by sharing with them what you can afford.
It also involves your practical demonstration of God's love by sharing with them what you can afford.
We learn from Jesus
teaching in the parable of the Good Samaritan (Lk. 10: 30 - 37) that anyone
with whom we can share the love of Christ in practical terms is our neighbour.
Nothing is too small to
give, but it must be done in the Spirit of Christ.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, I thank You
that You have given me resources to use and share. Give me grace to share with
those in need in Jesus Name, Amen.
Memory verse: James 2: 26
"For as the body
without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also"
