Bible Reading: Luke 1: 26 - 38
Topic: God's Favour Exalts
Angel Gabriel's message to
Mary - " .... you are highly favoured, the Lord is with you ...." (v.
28) shows that Mary had received divine favour therefore she was chosen in
preference to all women upon the earth to be the mother of the Messiah
Mary was not the only girl
or virgin in Israel but her life of righteousness, humility, devotion and
faithfulness must have attracted divine favour and this exalted her from the
position of a "common" or poor virgin girl of Nazareth to being the
Mother of the Messiah. Her song in Luke 1: 46 - 55, reveals her deep faith and
devotion to the Most High God.
Joseph was another
individual who received divine favour and God made him - "governor over
Egypt and Pharaoh's entire house" (Acts. 7" 9-10; Gen. 42: 6)
God's favour through King
David changed the already shattered destiny of Mephibosheth and he became one
of those who sat at the King's table (2 Sam. 9: 1-13)
Beloved, it is one thing
to struggle for survival, and another altogether to be favoured of the Lord.
Let us determine to serve
the Lord in all righteousness, keeping our garments clean as we patiently wait
for the second coming of the Lord
Prayer:
Lord show me Your favour
in all I do for I pray in Jesus Name, Amen.
Memory verse: Luke 1: 37
"For with God,
nothing shall be impossible"
