Bible Reading: James 5: 1 - 12
Topic: Use Your Resources Wisely
James teaches today that
wealth is given by God on trust, to be used for the fulfillment and
establishment of His Kingdom here on earth and we will be judged according to
our faithfulness in dispensing with it (James 5: 2-3). He reminds us of one of
the profound teachings of Jesus Christ on the Mount "Do not lay up for
yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy .... but in Heaven
where neither moth nor rust destroy" (Matt. 6: 19 - 24)
This message is not for
the rich alone, however since we all have our deposits of divine endowment - be
it wealth, skills or talents.
Whatever they are, we must
use them to glorify God not to impress others or to gratify self (Matt. 25:
31-46)
God intends that we use whatever grace given to us to assist
the less privileged, the fatherless and the widows through scholarships and
empowerment.
He also wants us to
support His work.
How are you using God's
wealth, skills or talents at your disposal?
Are you using them to help others and thereby invest in eternity or just to satisfy yourself?
Are you using them to help others and thereby invest in eternity or just to satisfy yourself?
Remember that one day, you
will give account on how you use what the Lord has given to you.
Prayer:
Grant me O God, wisdom to
use my resources to the Glory of Your Name through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Memory verse: James 5: 12
"But above all things
my Brethren, swear not, neither by Heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any
other oath; but let your yea be yea and your nay, nay; lest you fall into
condemnation"
