(All Saints Day)
Bible Reading: Matt. 5: 1 - 12
Topic: Thy Rule O Christ Begin
Today's passage records
the Beatitudes which Jesus spoke at the beginning of His Sermon on the Mount.
They are qualities that
constitute true happiness and characterizes the Kingdom lifestyle which should
distinguish every Christian in a World that is constantly in rebellion against
the Authority of its Creator.
The poor in spirit recognize
their sinfulness and the need to trust in the grace of God to save them. In
consequence, they mourn for how far they have fallen from God's standards.
Jesus promise is that such people will inherit the Kingdom of God and are
comforted. Moreover, Jesus promised that as they desire to live righteously,
God will satisfy all their spiritual hunger.
Those who portray the
Spirit of God in seeking peace and reconciliation with their fellow men will be
recognized as God's children.
These qualities will
attract hatred and persecution from the World but they must rejoice because
such persecution is a proof that their lives are pleasing to God.
Dear Reader, has the Lord
worked out His grace in your life, such that you are transformed enough to be
worthy of the World's persecution?
Prayer
Loving Father work out
Your Grace in my life today, so that I can be daily transformed in the Image of
Christ, Amen.
Memory Verse Matt. 5: 12
"Rejoice and be exceedingly
glad for great is your reward in heaven for so persecuted they the Prophets
which were before you."
