Daily Fountain 2017 - Fri241117 - Selfish Ambition

Friday November 24

Bible Reading:     Phil. 2: 1 - 4
Topic:                  Selfish Ambition

To be ambitious is to show strong determination to succeed which is fine.

However, to be selfish is to enthrone personal interest above the collective good.

Selfishness hinders growth, breeds jealousy, competition and hatred.

Selfish ambition can destroy. It rejoices in the failure of others, and feels bitterness when they succeed.

Some live by the shark principle: attack everything and everyone in your path as far as it is for your benefit.

It is good to remember that you can succeed without castigation or pulling down others.

Verse 4 says: let each look out not only for his own interest, but for the interest of others.

To this end, Paul admonished us in 1 Cor. 8: 13, to forgo our right to eat meat, if doing so would make a brother stumble.

Today, some brethren will not look out for others, acting only in their own interest.

Daily, we sacrifice Jesus (not just our brethren) and rubbish the Cross for our own selfish aims.

But the evil of such a lifestyle is that it breeds emptiness in the soul and consequent judgment.

Beloved, this is a call to humility and service as the antidote to selfish ambition.

Prayer
Lord, help me to achieve the ultimate ambition which is to know You and the power of Your resurrection and the fellowship of Your suffering. Amen

Memory Verse             Phil. 2: 4
" let each look out not only for his own interest, but for the interest of others."

Daily Fountain 2017 - It Is To Your Advantage

Sunday May 21 5th Sunday After Easter Bible Reading:      John 16: 5 - 22 Topic:          It Is To Your Advantage In life we must be ready to endure some level of discomfort in the present, in order to enjoy comfort in the future. The disciples had become comfortable with the presence and involvement of Jesus in their lives, but Jesus announced to them that it was necessary for Him to return to His Father in order that the Holy Ghost might come. If Jesus stayed, He would be only in one place at a time; but His Spirit would be everywhere at the same time. The disciples had to recognize therefore that growth and maturity come with sacrifice which involves willingness to step out of our comfort zone. God knows the best for you. Be sensitive to the leading of His Spirit. Desire progress but don't reject the change that brings it. Yes, you may be in an uncomfortable sit...

Daily Fountain 2017 - 2310 - Building Out Of Ruins

Monday October 23 Bible Reading:     Acts. 15: 12 - 22 Topic:                  Building Out Of Ruins When you pass by a collapsed building, what comes to your mind? When you see a place devastated by war, what strikes you? Ruin, lots of ruins! dashed irrecoverable hope, you lament on what it used to be, when it was standing previously. God can change ruins and rebuild from new edifices. This is how God deals with our lives when it appears we have been ruined. We should not remain in the ruins around us, but on to God and allow Him to come and rebuild them for us and others. Prayer Lord, let me know how to make a building out of ruins. May I not be steeped in failed traditions to the detriment of revival in Jesus Name, Amen. Memory Verse             Acts. 15:...
