Bible Reading: Phil. 3: 1 - 6
Topic: My Hope Is Built On Nothing
Else
A man began spending
wildly beyond his means in anticipation of the promise of a big contract from a
political leader.
Unfortunately the
political leader died before the contract could be awarded and his world almost
crumbled.
The Scripture says that a
man is cursed who puts his trust in a man, making his heart to depart from God.
But that man is blessed whose hope is the Lord (Jer. 17: 5-9).
We experience shame and
failure when we trust in anything other than the Rock of Salvation. Psalm 20: 7
says “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name
of the Lord our God.” (KJV).
Apostle Paul in Phil. 3: 1-6
admonished us not to have confidence in the flesh. He had every reason more
than anyone else to trust in the flesh and worldly achievements.
As Christians, our boast
should not be in the flesh, nor in our ability, nor in our degrees, wealth or
strength; it must be in Christ Who is the Author and Finisher of our faith. He
has never failed; He will never fail and He can never fail.
Prayer
Dear Lord, even in the
centre of the sea, amidst its waves and turbulence, may Your Word be my anchor
and my hope. Amen
Memory Verse Phil. 3: 3
" For we are the
circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have
no confidence in the flesh."
