Bible Reading: Eph. 5: 1 - 7
Topic: Watch That Conversation
As humans, we hardly go
through a day without entering into one
conversation involving sharing of ideas, opinions, observations, sentiments
e.t.c. with others.
Today Paul warns in v. 4
against indecent speech and dirty jokes unbecoming of a child of God.
We may not utter a word in
an ongoing conversation, yet we may be guilty of smiling. For instance we
should be mindful of so called comedians that make a mockery of our faith. To
laugh over such coarse jokes is to partake in the sins of the ungodly comedian
(Rom, 1: 32)
How do we control our
conversation so that it does not become gossip, dirty and silly talk? We find
the answer in the last part of v. 4 "...
but rather giving of thanks"
Any conversation that does
not result in thanksgiving to God should be avoided.
Jesus warns concerning
every conversation of ours, "But I
say unto you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of
it in the day of judgement" (Matt. 12: 36)
Watch that conversation so
that you do not sin against God
Prayer
May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You always my Lord and
Redeemer, Amen.
Memory Verse Eph. 5: 2
"And walk in love, as
Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us as an Offering and a
Sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour."
