Daily Fountain 2017 - 141117 - Carry Over Is Not Allowed (Part Two)

Tuesday November 14

Bible Reading:     Eph. 4: 25 - 32
Topic:                  Carry Over Is Not Allowed (Part Two)

We continue today on Paul's teaching on putting off the old man and putting on the new man.

This time around more vices that are associated with the old man are mentioned that we are required to put off.

Interestingly, wherever he lists a vice to be "put off", he gave a virtue to be "put on"
Lying is replaced by truth (v. 25)
Anger is replaced by reconciliation (vs. 26, 27)
A person who once robbed goes to work (v. 28)
Harmful words give way to helpful ones (vs. 29)
Bitterness, wrath, anger and insults give way to tender-heartedness, forgiveness (vs. 31, 32)

Verse 30 stands out in the list "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God by Whom you were sealed for the day of redemption"

The Holy Spirit Who sees our hearts, knows whether all the vices of the old man have been put off or not. He is grieved when we carry those vices into our new lives. However He rejoices when we substitute the vices of the old man with the virtues of the new man.

God forgave us in Christ and this grace should motivate us to do the same for others.

Prayer
Grant Lord, that I may substitute every vice of the old man with the virtues of the new man, Amen.

Memory Verse             Eph. 4: 32
"And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

Daily Fountain 2017 - It Is To Your Advantage

Sunday May 21 5th Sunday After Easter Bible Reading:      John 16: 5 - 22 Topic:          It Is To Your Advantage In life we must be ready to endure some level of discomfort in the present, in order to enjoy comfort in the future. The disciples had become comfortable with the presence and involvement of Jesus in their lives, but Jesus announced to them that it was necessary for Him to return to His Father in order that the Holy Ghost might come. If Jesus stayed, He would be only in one place at a time; but His Spirit would be everywhere at the same time. The disciples had to recognize therefore that growth and maturity come with sacrifice which involves willingness to step out of our comfort zone. God knows the best for you. Be sensitive to the leading of His Spirit. Desire progress but don't reject the change that brings it. Yes, you may be in an uncomfortable sit...

Daily Fountain 2017 - 2310 - Building Out Of Ruins

Monday October 23 Bible Reading:     Acts. 15: 12 - 22 Topic:                  Building Out Of Ruins When you pass by a collapsed building, what comes to your mind? When you see a place devastated by war, what strikes you? Ruin, lots of ruins! dashed irrecoverable hope, you lament on what it used to be, when it was standing previously. God can change ruins and rebuild from new edifices. This is how God deals with our lives when it appears we have been ruined. We should not remain in the ruins around us, but on to God and allow Him to come and rebuild them for us and others. Prayer Lord, let me know how to make a building out of ruins. May I not be steeped in failed traditions to the detriment of revival in Jesus Name, Amen. Memory Verse             Acts. 15:...
