Sunday February 5
Bible Reading: Psalm 36: 1 - 12
Topic: God's Mercy
Sinners by their wicked
acts show they do not have the fear of God. This is the root of all bitterness
- lack of the fear of God.
Verse 2 portrays that the
sinner deceives himself by flattering himself. While sinning, he thinks he is
doing well, refuses to see the evil and danger of his actions, intimidating his
conscience and calling evil good and good evil.
They deceive themselves
before the devil deceives them. But one day, they will face reality when they
stand before God in judgement.
Contrast this with the
sincere heart cry for God to continue His loving kindness to those who know Him
and His righteousness to the upright in heart (vs 10).
God's merciful nature
should encourage us to come to Him no matter our situation.
If you have not known Him,
let His attribute of mercy attract you to Him today because He is able to save
you.
If you have already known
Him, let this same quality in His Nature keep you attracted to Him that you may
serve Him with the rest of your life.
Remember: His mercy and
faithfulness reach to the clouds (v. 5)
Prayer:
Father, may Your mercy
keep me attracted to You, Amen
Memory verse: Psalm 36: 11
"Let not the foot of
pride come against me and let not the hand of the wicked remove me."
