Friday February 3
Bible Reading: Psalm 35: 17 - 27
Topic: Revoking Evil Thoughts
A woman who was not happy
because her daughter got born attacked her with words like "it shall not
be well with you until you stop this stupid Church thing; your children will
disgrace you as you have done to me" Her daughter replied: "Mama, God
bless you and may all your curses on me turn to blessings because I have done
you no wrong."
The Psalmist in our text
describes the injustice, malice and insolence of his persecutors and presented
them as a reason why God should revoke their evil wishes.
Two days ago, we saw that
He interceded for them, but today he engages in spiritual warfare not against
them but against their evil thoughts.
That was the same thing
the girl in our story did.
So while we intercede for
our enemies, we must not shy away from spiritual warfare revoking the evil
thoughts and wishes of our enemies.
Both the Psalmist and the
girl in our story made their appeal to God on grounds of their righteousness.
Therefore we have to be
righteous for our spiritual warfare to be meaningful and effective.
Prayer:
O God, turn every negative
thought of my enemies against me intl blessings, Amen
Memory verse: Psalm 35: 26
"Let them be ashamed
and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt; let them be
clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me."
