Friday February 17
Bible Reading: Romans 4: 1 - 12
Topic: Humbled By Grace
Today's text is a clear
illustration of Justification by Faith not by works.
The case of Abraham is
touching.
Between the time that he
believed God and it was counted for him as righteousness and the time the Law
was given under the Ministry of Moses was 430 years (Gal. 3: 17)
What does that teach us?
It teaches us the law was
not introduced to invalidate grace but as a go-between to bring us to Christ
(Gal. 3: 24)
Therefore we are justified
(or counted righteous) by God not on the imaginary scale of our rights
outweighing our wrongs but because we believe in His finished work of
redemption done by Christ on the Cross.
So our disposition in the
faith should be that of unbroken humility; because God accepted us in His Son
by grace through faith so that no flesh will glory in His Presence.
Are you standing in the
faith by grace?
then deepen your faith by
deliberate humility
Are you outside the faith
and depend wholly on your self-righteousness?
That is sinking sand
Embrace God's grace by
giving your life to Christ so that His Spirit will become your Guide and Helper
Prayer:
Lord, show me the mystery
of Your Justification through Faith, Amen
Memory verse: Romans 4: 5
"But to him that
worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is
counted for righteousness"
