Bible Reading: Romans 2: 1 - 16
Topic: The Rationale Behind God's Judgment
Every sound judgment
delivered by a Judge should contain what is called in latin - the ratio decendi
- (the reason for the decision)
In 2016, in the Rivers
State bitter Governorship battle between Dakuki Peterside and Ezebunwo Wike,
the Supreme Court gave a ground-breaking judgment in favour of Wike after he
had lost at both the Tribunal and the Court of Appeal.
However the Supreme Court
postponed giving the reason for that judgment for another date.
However, God is different.
Even before the final judgment, He gave His reasons for His judgment.
Our passage today gives us
four reasons why His judgment against all unrighteousness is just
1. His revelation in His Word (v. 2)
2. Unwillingness of man to repent (vs. 3 - 6)
3. He treats everyone equally (vs. 7 - 11)
4. Everybody has equal responsibility according to the light
received.
So if you fall into His
Hands in judgment, be sure that He is right in judging you
Prayer:
God the Righteous Judge,
give me the grace to do Your Will so that I don't fall into Your condemnation,
Amen
Memory verse: Romans 2: 1
"Therefore thou art
inexcusable O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest
another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things."
