Bible Reading: Gen. 2: 1 - 9
Topic: Breathe On Me Breath Of God
Today's passage is a
summary of the work of creation which was detailed in Genesis Chapter 1
Two important things
emerge from this account.
First - when God finished
His work of creation, He rested on the seventh day. He blessed and sanctified
it as a day of rest.
Later when He gave the
Children of Israel the Ten Commandments, He reiterated the need to have a rest
day from all our labours.
If God saw it fit to
declare a day of rest, we must understand that it is absolutely essential for
us to rest for the good of our health.
Moreover as Christians we
must also have the habit of gathering with others for worship and fellowship to
'recharge our spiritual batteries' for the coming week. This will help us to
live as God's Children wherever we work.
Secondly - when God made
man, He breathed into Him the breath of life and man became a living being.
Every living person
derives life from God and we can only fully live as God intended if we
understand that we cannot truly live apart from God.
Prayer:
Breathe on me Breath of God
Fill me with life anew
That I may love what Thou
dost love
And do what Thou wouldst
do
Amen
Memory Verse: Gen. 2: 7
"And the Lord God formed
man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of
life and man became a living soul"
