Bible Reading: 1 Pet. 5 1 - 7
Topic: Wait For Your Due Season
1 Peter 5: 1 - 7
introduces us to God's sort or own type of Leaders set over His flock.
Peter reminds leaders in
today's Church as he did to his first audience, that leadership over God's
people is not cheap, fixed and for personal gain
Whoever is appointed to
lead God's Church should remember that s/he has the call to serve not with high
handedness, force and what he can gain. It is a service to be done willingly in
love with the Good Shepherd the Lord Jesus Christ being the One to be obeyed
and honoured by every leader as an under shepherd.
A day is coming when the
Chief Shepherd will return and reward every under shepherd according to what
they have done in taking care of God's flock (v. 4)
It is not only the Elders
who should serve as good, sacrificial God fearing servants, the young people in
the Church are to accept the authority of those God has set over them and learn
to give all their worries or anxieties to God (v. 7)
Prayer
Lord help me as an Elder
in Your Church to serve Your flock as a true and loving shepherd and for young
people to accept the authority of the leaders you have set over them, Amen.
Memory Verse 1 Pet. 5: 6
"Humble yourselves
therefore under the mighty Hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time."
