Sunday April 2
Bible Reading: Psalm 22
Topic: Jesus' Passion Foretold
As God's anointed King
over Israel, David was challenged with many conspiracies, terrifying
oppositions and wars.
In all these, he
encouraged himself to praise God and pay all the vows he made to God.
The lesson here is that in
every difficult situation you should never cease to praise God and fulfill your
obligations to Him and the Church.
In this Psalm, David was
led in the Spirit to foretell the suffering which Christ would undergo on the
Cross in order to bring salvation to mankind.
He was forsaken by God (v.
1)
bore our shame and
reproach (vs. 6-7)
became weak for us to
become strong and died that we might live (vs. 14 - 15)
His Hands and Feet were
pierced (v. 16)
and His Garments were
divided by lot (v. 18)
These described prophecies
prove that Christ is the Messiah Who suffered all brutality and bore the pain
of death for us (Isa. 53)
The outcome of the Passion
and Death is that the poor is satisfied, those who seek and find Him will
praise Him forever and at the end, families of nations will come from all the
earth to worship Him.
Have you taken advantage
of this all important sacrifice?
Prayer:
Thank You Lord for giving
all for my sake. Help me to live in You and for You forever, Amen
Memory verse: Psalm 22: 24
"For He hath not
despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath He hid His
face from him but when he cried unto Him, He heard"
